So, back on August 2, 2008, Craig, Chris, Brad, Arlen and I participated in Red Bull's Flugtag event. If you've never heard of it, teams of five people compete by building a human-powered flight craft and launching it off a 30ft drop after performing a skit to entertain the crowd.
We were Team Road Runner. We actually won the Wild Card challenge (30 teams were chosen from the entries, then 5 teams duked it out via online voting for the "Wild Card" spot. That winning team was us.
I was the pilot, Wile E. Coyote. I hand-sewed that costume over a single week...it took about 60 hours. I actually finished the mask about 3 hours before the event started....I operated on very little sleep that week.
Arlen was Road Runner. He also had a hand-sewn costume using a pattern purchased off eBay from the 1970's. His kid's plastic mask was also a purchase from eBay...from Canada. I think the shipping was $12 on the $1 mask.
Rounding out the crew were Craig, Chris and Brad acting as the 3 ACME employees who delivered and pushed the rocket.
What follows below is a nice little video project that Craig put together. We have more pictures and video, and I'll try to get them sorted out on here at some point. In the mean time, enjoy the show!
