My first Thanksgiving away from home <sniff> ;). And it was an astounding success. George, Luke and his wife (Jean) were the first people to experiment on my first large home-cooked meal. Below you can see the results.

Here you can see what my brand new roaster looked like after I added some vegetables and fixin's to help make the gravy from the turkey drippin's. |

Here's a wider view as I'm getting ready to cook. That's a 20 lb. turkey sitting there in my sink. I picked up that roaster free after rebate at Linens and Things just a few days prior to Thanksgiving....it's maximum weight limit? 20 lbs. |

This little bugger took at least a 1/2 hour of my life away. Seriously! The turkey was still kind of frozen and it took forever and a day to get this thing out of the damn turkey so that I could start cooking it. |

Ah... what a beautiful thing. Had you attended my magnificent feast, you too could have chowed down on the following eats:
20 lb turkey, home made gravy, stuffing, potatoes, corn, green beans, freshly baked homemade wheat bread, 2 home made chocolate cakes, Egyptian treats (freshly brought back from Egypt and generously donated to the meal by George) and a mighty cook rice noodle dish that Luke's parents made. |
 |
A far away shot of the two cakes....I specifically wanted to make a round cake, but it came out a little flatter than i had wanted. Neverless, it tasted damn good. |
 |
We were four people. It was a 20 lb. turkey. What did you expect? As for the piss poor carving job? All me baby, all me. |
 |
Jean (Luke's wife), Luke, George, and me. Mighty full and damn happy. (Did you know it was the first time Luke or Jean ever had Turkey? I almost felt bad that mine had to be their first experience, but they liked it...go figure.) |
